Long Exposures

This scene was shot after midnight in winter. Even though it was almost impossible to see anything even with the eyes, the 10 second exposure allowed the light from the streetlights in the area to create a surreal orange illumination, sufficient to see detail. From almost completely dark, the long exposure made it unique and dramatic.

Black and White

While we usually strive for realism in our photos, we also want to be creative and find different perspectives. Black and white can dramatically alter the appearance of an image or scene. Extreme contrasts can bring out a dynamic that just can't be captured in color. Some of the most famous images ever captured were in black and white, including most of Ansel Adams' work.
